Sleepy in Seattle

Travel madness has set in, goodnight
Travel madness has set in, goodnight

I am absolutely floored that I made it out to Seattle today.  Between the Blizzard in Denver and the Eruption of Mt. Redoubt I keep running into people who are stranded in various stages of travel.  Yet, my flights all got me to where I needed to go – they got me there late, but they got me there.

Denver Airport is actually pretty nice, and the place was a ghost town because so few people could actually get to the airport today, this meant that my flight (one of the few that was departing from Denver today) was filled with a good number of people who were either rerouted or on stand-by.  Most people were actually in a great mood, which made the flight pass by quickly.  I arrived in Seattle around 6:30 PST and hopped on to the airport shuttle.  The Hotel doesn’t have gratis internet, which is ridiculous, I’m doing one hour to get my update out.  Starting tomorrow our conference rooms will have gratis wifi, so there.

After dropping my stuff in my room I stopped by the conference rooms where the Logos guys were setting up.  They seem like a lot of fun.  After confirming that our conference wifi account isn’t working until tomorrow I headed out to find something to eat.  I can’t even afford to smell the food at the hotel restaurant, so I asked folks where I could get a reasonably priced meal within walking distance of the hotel.  Here’s a hint, when you ask someone for a reasonably priced place to eat, make sure you tell them you’re actually poor.  The place the hotel worker sent me to had nothing under $15.00 on the menu, so I walked the other way and ended up at Denny’s.  Dennyburgers are not any better than they were when I was at college, but it was cheap and the help was actually helpful!

I’m looking forward to getting the conference underway and meeting all these folks.  I know there’s one huge Flyers fan working at Logos, so that’s nice.  Thanks to everyone who was praying for me today – I hope I was able to be a good presence for the folks I met along the way.

Meh.. I’d pay for the internet in the hotel room myself. Sometimes being able to wind down late at night on a mindless internet game is needed when traveling away from home and away from family.
