Pastors sometimes joke, “The Church would be perfect if everyone in it were just like ME.”. This is odd, as the person pastors are most critical of is the person who stares back at them in the mirror.

I honestly wonder what’s more responsible for the change in the way we pastors think of ourselves. Did our language-shift influence our self-understanding or was it the other way around?
