Update from LBI

I guess I should have warned folks that I would be on vacation for two weeks, drastically reducing the possibilities that I’d be posting anything here.  In fact, I’m really trying to take a vacation and not come up with another dozen or so ideas that I’d really like to try out (and probably write about here).  My plate it full, I need a sabbath.

The first time you ride your own bike to get water ice, it just tastes so much better.

One of the cool things about being down at the shore this year is that both my kids are now riding bikes, which expands their range of opportunities of things to do on the island (it’s also given me an excuse to bring my own bike down, which I’ve been riding faithfully every morning for a few miles).  One our first day I took a ride to the 5 & 10 with my wife and daughter.  Today I went out with my son twice.  Once to get him acclimated to riding on the roads (he hasn’t done this much yet) and once to take him out for a special treat.  The first time a child rides their own bike to get Water Ice is a big deal where I’m from – so I share it with you.  Sadly, they didn’t have any flavors I wanted (a water ice place without lemon!?  What’s up with that?).

I love the jersey shore.  I don’t find it as stimulating as Williamsburg, but the pace of life is great and there are few other places that I’d really rather take my rest.

No lemon? That’s crazy! But what’s the coffee shop situation like at LBI? I miss “Who’s on First” in OC.

Yes, no lemon. I was floored.

There is a place that does a passable cup near here called “How You Brewing?” It serves too many flavored coffees though.

No worries, I brought some Trader Joe’s Organic Sumatra with me. Cheaper and better.
