Indoor Basil

I was doing some dishes after lunch yesterday and caught sight of the basil plant my daughter has grown from a cutting. I glanced at the plant during the narrow window when the low December Sun illuminates it perfectly. The green of the leaves, combined with the nice shadows, caught my interest. So I ran to get my camera.

I miss the presence of green things during the Winter months, it’s nice to have something growing in our home. It’s especially nice to have something which smells as wonderful as basil growing in my house 1.

I took thirteen photos during my impromptu shoot, the image below is my favorite. An extreme close up of one of the plant’s largest leaves.

Basil has many uses. Beside flavoring, it also keeps bugs out of food. It also has medicinal purpose..and it is a pretty plant.
