Next week I’ll be heading to Green Lake, Wisconsin for a denominational pastor’s conference called, “Fanning the Flame.” I’m looking forward to it for a couple of reasons:
- This will actually mark the first time I get out of my time-zone.
- I get to hang out with my good friend and mentor, Frank Reeder (he doesn’t have a blog, but I love in anyway), for several days.
- Since I was so disappointed with the Emerging conversation last year, I didn’t both to go to this one and I wanted to do some learning away from my home church.
- As part of the regional staff, my way is paid in the form of a continuing education grant. This is cool.
I’m supposed to be filming videos while I’m out there, so I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to get to the seminars (videos need to be edited, after all) – but I would like to see what Paul Borden has to say. There’s also a presentation on getting congregations to move away from “fear” when it comes to sharing the Gospel. We’ll see what I get to. If I have time, I think I’ll try to ask some questions that I can use for my fall sermon series on the Political implications of Jesus’ preaching. We’ll see.
Anyway, as the conference moves forward, I’ll be blogging it (actually, I’m hoping to get a list of bloggers on the FTF web-site, other than the two we have now). So keep checking back!
