Jesus – Wrong on Taxes

I’m preaching on Matthew 22:15-22 this week.  As I wrote the manuscript I found myself thinking, “You know, the tension of the text would be perfectly illustrated by some faux attack ads.”  Here’s the first one.  Perhaps I’ll add some ominus music later.

    wha? I’m not sure if I’m missing something. Love the concept, but He says to pay taxes. easily confused right now.

    Erik, that’s actually the point. I’m also doing one where the Zealots are complaining that Jesus supports the occupation because he says to pay taxes (which he actually doesn’t say outright because he reframes the discussion).

    I’m going to show them both during my sermon to show the two possible outcomes Jesus’ opponents were hoping obtain by trapping him.
