I was psyched to be able to head down to Philly for the Parade on Friday. Palmyra was nearly the perfect point from which to enter the city (the PA burbs had regional rail shut down on them – whoops!). We did have to got a few stations north to find room on a train going south, but that wasn’t such a bad detour. Philly itself was nuts. Below are two videos, one of our trip down into the city and another of our trip into the city and one of our vantage point of the parade. It was an experience I’ll never forget.
Just to wrap this into my pastoral angle for this blog, the image of believers rushing to meet Jesus in the sky in 1 Thessalonians. While escapist theologies assign that passage to the “rapture,” the image there is actually of a Roman Triumph – and that’s exactly what the Parade was yesterday.
