This was an incredibly busy weekend. The Chili Cook was fun, but exhausting for this introvert. Having to wake up early the next day to preach, in the middle of an insane allergy kick, only added to the fun.
Worship in the morning was very good, and by the end I was ready to crash. It would have to wait, however, because I was also scheduled to preach during our Brazilian Congregation’s worship in the evening. I knew if I laid down I’d have trouble getting up, so I texted a single word to my neighbor, “Park?”
We were in the car about thirty minutes later. It was a beautiful day, with heat to which I’m not yet accustomed. The park we visited doesn’t have a great deal of shade, though, and I was quickly wishing I’d brought both my sunglasses and a water bottle. I’ll know better for next time!
Most of my shots will end up on Flickr later today, but I wanted to share this one below. I have better looking photographs in the set, but this popped out to me for two reasons. First, because it’s the first time I’ve changed lenses during one of my photowalks. I typically pick a lens when I start out and shoot accordingly – but this little guy demanded a tighter angle. Second, the turtle was doing what my body longed to do, just chilling out and relaxing in the Sun.
All in all a good afternoon. I got home with enough time to polish up my message for the evening, and spend some time in quiet. And the evening worship was amazing.
