Lord, save me from the political true believers

Yesterday I wrote about McCain’s stepping back from fear-mongering (where he should have never gone in the first place).  Let’s be clear, though, there’s quite a number of Obama supporters who are equally as vile.  A friend of mine told me about the protest people were planning at the Republican fund-raiser in Philly yesterday.  It made me as excited as I am when I have a dentist appointment.  The crowd went over the top, and here’s the winner for worste statement of the day:

Outside Broad Street, waiting for Palin to leave, one man was heard saying, “Let’s stone her, old school.”

Brilliantly done, protesters.  Way to be a force for hope.

When Jesus calls his followers to work from the fringes, it’s not so we can toss verbal hand-grenades from cover.  I hope my brothers and sisters in Christ figure this out before too long, with the country sliding into recession we don’t need volatile activists, we need humble servants.

  1. Brother, I think you’re completely missing the point of that person’s commnet. Here you are condemning it, and I’m celebrating. Finally we’ve found someone without sin! It’s about time too…2000 years is way to long to go without another savior

  2. Careful Matt, sarcasm doesn’t translate well on the ‘net. Until I re-read your comment I’d missed your intent.

  3. Sigh. Luckily, I skipped town for a leadership retreat.

Obama was a few blocks from my house.

Palina and Biden were also in town.

I was off discerning what God wants to do in Philadelphia with close a hundred other leaders in my network. I’ll take that any day.
