There is a bad trend, in every type of church, which sees the Christian faith as a product from the “comfort industry.” People want to have their egos stroked, contribute some money, and then be left alone. Community, however, requires that we all find ways to serve. It doesn’t emerge when people are simply sitting in a pew and/or donating money.

      I do have to say, however, that there are plenty of people in churches who are doing a great many tasks – yet have little or now concept of what it means to serve.
