On Friday I presided over the funeral, and was asked to photograph some of the floral arrangements by the family. Unfortunately, the full display had been taken to the gravesite by the time I had access to my camera. But a single piece, a bamboo cross, was left behind at the request of the woman’s daughter.
This cross was adorned with a stunning array of Fall flowers, and made for an excellent photography subject. I only wish I had a black backdrop to more fully bring out it’s beauty.
It amazes me how people reach out for signs of beauty in a time of grief. I believe that to be an incredibly healthy response.
