Old Hydrant

on

I took this photo on my walk this past Monday. I loved how the hazy light was bouncing off the bright yellow paint, and I applied a strong tone curve pre-set to bring up the contrast. I then lowered the luminosity of the yellow to bring out some details in the highlight areas, and raised the shadows a bit. I’m quite please with the results. The color of the hydrant, surrounded by the more drab browns of Winter, speaks of the coming hope of Spring.
