We went for a short walk this evening, and I got the idea to capture this odd intersection not too far from my home. The weather was lovely, though a front was beginning to roll in and the clouds were in the process of turning ominous.
I was pleased with how the photo turned out, because it captures so much of how I’m feeling today. The boat in the center speaks to the hope of Spring and Summer fun. The clouds in the sky, however, give the scene a mournful look – reminding me of those struggling with floods in the Midwest and grieving in New Zealand. The diverging roads call out for people to declare which path they’ll take. In the wake of the two “big news” tragedies of the day I can’t help but ponder the choice between serving life or serving death, between helping or hurting.
Mr. Rogers used to tell children “look for the helpers” when tragedy strikes. The world is in need of a lot of helpers right now.

Especially in New Zealand. x
