The Calm Before

Yesterday morning I happened to glance out our dining room window and was struck by the sky. It was stunning. With a nor’easter due to hit later that day I knew the sky was going to be grey for a while, so I felt compelled to quick grab my G7 and try to get some captures.

Morning skies like that can disappear in a blink so I quick switched to my 7.5mm wide angle as fast as I could and tried to adjust some settings which would do justice to the scene. I didn’t even feel I had time to set up my tripod before the moment passed, so I shot handheld. The shot isn’t a sharp as I’d like, and it would probably look better had I felt confident enough set up my camera a bit more, but I’m pleased with the results.

This morning I woke up to a grey sky, snow, and ice. What a difference a day makes.
