Sometimes you just need to stick your tongue out at the world.
I came up with this two panel comic the other day. I wasn’t feeling particularly snarky 1, but I think the two panels pretty much define the ethos of the day. The world seems to be losing it’s collective mind, and sometimes an act of pure and childish gleeful defiance is our last bastion of sanity. Sometimes you just need to put your hands to you ears, stick out your tongue, and then eloquently declare, “Nah, nah, nannannah!!” One can’t remain in this emotional state, of course 2, but for brief moments of catharsis it’s ok. At least, that’s what I’m telling myself.

So, go ahead, blow the occasional raspberry of defiance. But remember, we’re part of the problems we see in the world every bit as much as we’re part of the solutions.

  1. Perhaps I’m mellowing in my old age… probably not.
  2. I’m not certain, but I believe unmetered childish defiance is how we get lobbyists.
