Butterfly

Central held our church picnic on Saturday. The family home where we gathered had a beautiful garden, filled with butterflies, and I was able to take some photos of this amazing display.

My target for my photos was a particularly large butterfly which seemed to enjoy soaring like a hawk over the flowers below. After a few minutes I was forced to conclude my subject didn’t seem inclined to pose for a photo, so I turned my camera on to some of its smaller cousins who appeared to be eager for a close up.

After capturing these smaller creatures for a few minutes I looked down and saw a wonderful sight. My chosen subject had decided to pose for a photograph after all, and landed on the flower right in front of me! I was able to capture a number of photos before it took off once more, and several with it’s beautiful wings on display It was a huge treat!
