At our youth group we have certain prayer stations set up to help the students spend time time in quiet with God. One of these stations consists of a number of magnetic words on a metal sheet, which students are encouraged to rearrange to form prayers. Last week I glanced down and saw the prayer displayed below, “Believe in peace.”
I’m rather careful about using the word “believe,” as I find we use it a bit too liberally 1, but in this instance I’ll make an exception. It seems like a great many people in the world are resolute in achieving glory through war, and not enough believe in the blessings of genuine peace.
- People use the same word to describe God, “true love,” Santa, and science. It gives me a headache. ↩
