I’m on vacation, so I’m taking a pause on things, but I couldn’t let a Wednesday go by without random thoughts.
- No Jedi were harmed in the making of this list.
- Herd immunity is coming, but we need to get a number of Evangelical Christians to jettison the death cult and get the vaccine to be sure we get there.
- We had 17 people in person for worship Easter Sunday. It was so nice.
- It’s Wednesday and thus far this vacation I’ve gotten some shaved ice and played D&D once. In typical times doing pretty much nothing wouldn’t bother me, but this week it’s stressing me out.
- If you’ve never watched Babylon 5, pay for a month of HBO max and binge it. It hits its stride about 2/3 through season 2. Seasons 3 and 4 may be the best science fiction ever put on TV 1.
- Professor Nobody made a cameo in my D&D session this week. I even know the precise point in The Darned Conspiracy when it happens. I may even have him reference the trip in the story, which would make the Monday Murder Hobos canon to the Penny Gnomes’ unreality. This would all be explained in a footnote, of course 2.
- Baldur’s Gate 1 is hard. Also, level one characters are terrible.
- I got to sing, for real, for the first time in over a year during Easter sunrise worship. Thinking about it brings tears to my eyes.
- We might go out for an early dinner this afternoon. Outdoors, of course. That’ll feel… weird-good.
- Yesterday I saw someone on Facebook crowing that Christians aren’t sheep, but lions. This person’s religion isn’t Christianity. First, Jesus is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah–not us 3. Second “lamb” is the preferred eschatological image for our Savior 4 Third, the other image for a lion in the New Testament is to reference the devil prowling around to devour people 5. If people are claiming to be “lions” they aren’t following the way of Christ, they’re in league with the spiritual forces of evil.
- The Battlestar Galactica reboot and The Expanse are the only things that come close, and I love DS9. ↩
- One player figured it out and asked if the Professor had any chips. I was so pleased I didn’t even mind that it was meta gaming. ↩
- Rev. 5:5 ↩
- Read the rest of Revelation 5, for example. Not to mention the rest of the New Testament. ↩
- 1 Peter 5:8 ↩
