The world seems to be intent on imploding for…reasons…and I’m pretty much done with it. I’m winding up vacation, I’ve had coffee, and I’ve not gotten enough sleep. These are random thoughts.

1. If you want to make an IT-minded person really angry, mess with their network equipment.
2. More and more I’m seeing a lack of hope being equated with “maturity.” This is a lie. A lack of hope isn’t mature, it’s naked fear.
3. Star Wars is designed to have “good guys” and “bad guys.” It doesn’t mean the “bad guys” are all bad or the good guys are perfect. It means that the story set up should give us that vantage point. It’s not prestige drama, stop trying to force it to be one (and failing).
4. I had a pretty awful hotel breakfast yesterday. It was kinda disappointing.
5. I used three cameras on my trip to Williamsburg the other week. My Panasonic G7, a DJI Osmo Pocket 3, and my iPhone. Each is fun to use for different reasons.
6. I don’t know why people think you can’t have morally complex characters or situations in a show where there are actual “good guys” and “bad guys.” Babylon 5 is right there. Heck, so is Deep Space 9.
7. It’s looking more and more like the person who tried to assassinate Trump didn’t have a political motive. He just wanted a high profile target.
8. I just want to be useful. I think I have been, maybe, but sometimes it’s hard to feel that when I look out and miss so many people.
9. I still think our two party system is a threat to the Republic, but right now only one party is hell-bent on using fascist images and is being celebrated by racist groups. So that’s got to be dealt with before the other party crumbles into multiple parts.
10. If you’re putting gauze on your ears for no reason than to show devotion to your leader, you are in a cult.
