Through The Branches

Early in the week my neighbor sent me a text,

Foggy full moon on tap. Look towards t Bridge. Catch if you can !

In response I quick glanced out my window and grabbed my camera. Dawn was fast approaching, but there remained enough shadow that the moon displayed some good definition. But its position in the sky, and the twilight quality of the light, made capturing this beautiful sight rather difficult.

I didn’t have much time, so I opted to capture my shots handheld, which reduced the range of shutter speeds I could use before my jittery hands ruined the exposures. So I upped my ISO, propped the camera on my window, and began to experiment.

From my bedroom window the descending moon was obscured by a barren tree, which made capturing the disc all but impossible, so I tried another tactic. I focused on the branches while trying to get the moon to display as much bokeh as I could manage. I’m pleased with the results.

  1. This sounds like a note one character leaves for another, and the story follow’s the latter’s chase through the foggy lands to find THE bridge to where his first friend waits with mischief up his sleeve… 🙂
