Summer View

I’m not a “beach person.” I am not fond of baking myself so when I’m down the shore 1 my “beach days” are more like “beach mornings.” I read a few chapters of a book, do some body surfing, and then head back to the house for lunch. It’s seldom that I head back to the beach after that.

I am, however, a shore person. I love boardwalks, the shops, rides, water slides, miniature golf, tandem bicycles 2 good shore donuts, skee-ball, and ice cream. The Jersey shore is amazing.

So when I had to travel down the shore to get some photos and video for ABCNJ I invited my wife and Bump to join me. I did the work I needed to do, and then we headed out on to Long Beach Island for lunch and to get Bump to the ocean for the first time. It was a stunning day, and when I ascended to the summit of the sand dunes the view of beach umbrellas stretched toward the horizon gave me a moment of wonderful peace. I may not like the beach itself, but the sight of it causes me to sigh with contentment.

  1. No, that is not a type-o. This is how you make that statement in the greater Philadelphia cultural area.
  2. We used to own one, it was so cool.
