On The Vine

I captured this photo at a friend’s parent’s home last week. The sunlight was harsh while we were there, which made capturing the angles I wanted difficult. Colors tended to become blown out, taking away from detail. I managed to recover much of the data and develop a decent image, but there was something about these captures which made me want to try for a different look. If nothing else, it provided me a good an excuse to play with On1 Photo Raw’s split-tone module. I didn’t find the module as fun to use as darktable’s excellent tool 1, but I was able to create something near the look I envisioned. I’ll probably look for some tutorials to better get a hang of it.

  1. I make keep darktable installed just for that module, it is that good.
